Koh Phi Phi is famous for its diverse reef systems and its wide range of aquatic life. Divers travel from all over to get here with some dive resorts and liveaboards travel for 2 or 3 hours to come and explore the sites. We are lucky enough to have the National Marine Park right on our doorstep!
We travel over on our traditional Thai longtail boats custom designed for scuba diving. Being one of the only shops on the island to offer this service has its advantages and keeps customers returning every year to dive with us! Diving off longtail boats allows us to leave later than other dive operators. This means that the reefs are generally less crowded. Less people and more fish is what we like! If weather conditions are unsuitable for longtails we will arrange for a big boat, as safety is our main priority.
We usually do our first dive of the day at one of the beautiful and famous Bida islands. With sandy bays, sloping reefs, fantastic walls and deep pinnacles these sites have a little bit of everything including harmless leopard sharks and black tip reef sharks, many resident hawksbill turtles, frogfish, octopus, ghost pipe fish, stingrays, cuttlefish, giant trevallies and barakudas, just to name a few.
We normally pull up onto one of the stunning beaches around Phi Phi Ley and enjoy lunch on the beach. We know divers would much rather relax, sunbath, snorkel, eat lunch and play games on the beach during surface intervals.
After a beach lunch we head out for our second dive to one of the many sites around Phi Phi Ley, all a little bit different. One area, Malong and Maya Corner, has some really cool swim throughs and a healthy population of hawksbill turtles, whilst at Palong Bay you are almost certain to see black tip reef sharks! At Pileh Wall, which is normally a drift dive, you can feel like Superman flying along the wall, which is covered with beautifully coloured soft corals. There is an artificial reef and coral nursery, which is attracting more and more fish every year since it was constructed in 2006.
Koh Phi Phi is excellent for its macro life colourful Nudibranchs, flabiliners, pipefish, seahorse also including rare species like harlequin shrimp, ghost pipefish and frogfish.
Tell your guide what you would like to see and we will try our best to find it for you!
